Two days before Douglass Charles' big day, we celebrated Doug's birthday. Now all you grown ups out there know that when you get to be "grown up" birthdays just aren't the same anymore. We did our best to celebrate daddy's day, but he did have to work, and the budget was tight, so we got creative with a few gifts, went to dinner, and made his fave cake for dessert (a white chocolate chip cake with buttercream chocolate chip icing). Doug passed his 32nd birthday with very little hoopla, but I honestly think it was okay with him. Doug had more fun watching the kids get SO excited about his birthday cake - we couldn't keep from laughing - and "all his presents" that it was hard not to smile (so glad that kids make things like birthdays so much more fun!).
