Life Adventures

I started this post last night and didn't get around to finishing it. Much has happened since my quiet evening. Doug woke up with severe pain this morning and we had to call an ambulance to take him to the hospital. Turns out he has kidney stones - two in fact - one in each kidney. We are gearing up for great fun as he tries to pass the stones here at home. Thank the Lord for friends and neighbors who were all willing to help out. Charlotte went to stay with Micah - her little boyfriend for a few hours while I tended to her Daddy - thanks Stephanie and Mick for your help. I can't tell you how much we appreciate it.

On top of this misfortune, my father was admitted to the hospital earlier this week with blood clots in his lungs. This is the second time this has happened and as always scared all of us.

If there is anything I have learned from all the family ailments it is that life is precious and we take it too much for granted. The sweet picture above makes me realize what in life is important - family, friends and our gracious God. So next time you kiss your honey goodbye or tuck your little ones in at night just remember to linger a little longer. Our time together is so precious. Lets not waste it. :)

Moore Babies

Charlotte met her cousin, Adeline Elizabeth Moore yesterday afternoon. My brother, Owen, and his wife, Mary Catherine, welcomed Addy on Wednesday, January 16th - last week. We have been so excited about her arrival and very happy that everything went so smoothly. We laugh because both children have the notorious Moore mouth - at least when we go to Atmore everyone will know who these kids belong to -- Dr. Moore (by the way, Poppa is very proud that he has passed on this physical characteristic).

As you can see Adeline has beautiful dark skin - from her mother. Poor Charlotte will have to come in early from Nana's pool while Addy gets to keep playing because she is going to fry with that beautiful, porcelain white skin. Oh well... Maybe she will age more gracefully that way. She won't appreciate that skin until she is much older - Oh, if we can get through high school. One day she will appreciate the beauty of her color.


I decided to post what I think is a better picture of the Audrey Hepburn Apron. You will see I added something - the bow on the pocket. It just seemed like something was missing. It really is darling on - my cute, blonde sister, Sarah, owns this piece and it looked great on her. I keep thinking that I need to request pictures from others who own my aprons and tell their stories here as well. Aprons are timeless and ageless so anyone can wear one. It would be neat to hear the diversity behind those who wear them.

I promise I am at least thinking about those children's apron designs. I have a few other things in the works right now that require my dedicating my time to my adult aprons. Once those projects are completed maybe I can begin seriously focusing on the minature versions. It may be next Christmas, though. Who knows... I am not making any promises. :)

Striking Up a Conversation

Charlotte gets more and more verbal everyday. She has been conversing with us since she was six weeks old. Doug is worried he might not get a word in edge wise once she can really talk. I don't know why he is surprised. Charlotte is her mother's daughter. :) Enjoy!

Pretties

I couldn't resist taking pictures of my little Charlotte this afternoon. I had dressed her up in an adorable smocked day gown given to her by one of my dear friends, Christy Bein Meadows. It was my "official" first day back at work and we went to a business meeting together. Before you get worried, it was a volunteer group that I am a part of through my job. They welcomed us with open arms and Charlotte was the hit of the show. :)



These two pictures were too cute not to share. She was so happy through most of her photo op so I am glad I was able to capture her little smile. No real laughs yet. Can't wait for that to happen, but we get plenty of coos and smiles whenever we play - which is sometimes 3:00 in the morning.


Finally a picture of the completed new design. I am going to take some more pictures because I am not thrilled with this one - it was the best one out of the group. I have decided to call this design the Audrey Hepburn. I know she wasn't a domestic lady - like my other two namesakes - but I don't think you have to be domestic to wear an apron. Audrey beaconed style, class and elegance. I don't think there is a better fit for what this apron is to me. So... finally, a year after attempting to start on this design, I finally have it done. Apron Strings

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a blessed holiday full of love and laughter. Ours was certainly more special with our newest addition. A friend of the family was right when she said that little ones make the season more magical. We can't wait until she gets a little older and is able to actually really enjoy the holidays. Nonetheless, it was still a special time for us.

I actually completed some custom orders over the holidays for a few customers. The Carol Brady above turned out lovely for my sister, Lauren Brownfield. Her reaction on Christmas day was priceless. Did I mention that it looked darling on her? Lauren, I will have to get a picture of you in it cooking away in your kitchen to post here. :)


I had two customers request this combination. This is the June Cleaver in retro orange with a stripe piping around the edge. The combination is wonderful! Ironically, the recipients of the two aprons varied drastically in age. One was a young bride the other was someone's sweet Nana. Who knew these fabrics could be so versatile.


This June Cleaver Apron turned out well with the blue peony. Made for a very classy, southern lady, the gift giver said it fit her personality perfectly.

So, believe it or not, somehow I managed to pull off the apron orders and sell a few things on etsy. Considering my circumstances, the season went well. All of these aprons are available at www.alisaprons.etsy.com for sale - not to mention a few other items are there for your pleasure.

Stay tuned, as I hope to begin on my childrens' aprons soon - once I build my inventory back up. It is completed depleted at the moment. Back to the sewing room!
